The Society for Cinema and Media Studies (SCMS) has an annual conference that provides a forum for scholars and teachers of film and media studies from all over the world to present, hear new research and network.
Deja Bags had the opportunity to exhibit and sell product at two of their conferences when they were in Seattle over the past few years. I was a bit shy about bringing the booth’s flamboyant set up (with large reels on the bag stands and a red velvet curtain backdrop) into the scholarly displays of other vendors who were selling books on long flat folding tables covering subjects such as War in Media, Critical Media Pedagogies, and Women in Screen History, among other related topics. But upon taking a look at the program I noticed discussion groups such as the “Queer Caucus” and scholarly interest groups titled “Adult Film History” and “Horror Studies”, so I relaxed and made a broader display of our Adult Film offerings.
